Title: School of Social Science Career and Employability Conference 2026 [This event is organised in collaboration with different student societies at the School of Social Science at the University of Manchester]
Short Description: This event aims to provide students with insights into various professions and the skills employers are looking for. This year for the first time, we will start the conference with 3 workshops followed by different parallel sessions where the speakers will talk about their career journey, the nature of their job, and the essential graduate skills it demands. Then, some of the speakers and alumni will join a discussion panel about the “Essential Skills for New Graduates in the Current Environment”. Finally, there will be a speed dating session with over 15 alumni from different careers in Social Science.

[This event is organised in collaboration with Sheeconomics as part of the Women in Economics Mentorship Scheme (WEMS). A scheme developed in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University to support, connect, and empower women pursuing economics through mentorship and dialogue.]
Short Description: Join us this Black History Month for an inspiring discussion on activism and economic justice with Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman and Maria Noble, two leading voices in championing equity and empowerment. The event will be followed by a networking session with refreshments. We particularly encourage women to attend.

Short Description: This event aims to provide students with an understanding of corporate social responsibility as a strategic advantage for profit maximisation firms. The session will be delivered by The Co-Operative Group which is recognised for their environment and social actions. The session will consist of a 30-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session.

Title: Inspiring Women in Economics [This event was organised in collaboration with the School of Social Science at the University of Manchester and the Royal Economics Society (RES) Women in Economics Network (WEN)]
Short Description: This event will feature a distinguished panel of senior women economists from the public and private sectors, as well as academia. They will share their career journeys, challenges they faced, lessons they learned, and insights into achieving success in the field of economics. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers. We will close with an informal networking session over drinks, offering a chance to connect with peers and mentors. This event promises to inspire and empower.
